Thank you for using our cost per car calculator. We hope that our calculator becomes a useful tool for you and your business. We believe that this is the most accurate method to calculate your cost per car.

Most operators will use this method on a monthly basis to calculate their cost to compare it month to month.

Before getting started you will need the following information:

  1. FACTORY DRUM FILL LINE IN INCHES – If your supplier provides a translucent drum then simply take a tape measure and measure from the ground up to the point that your drum is filled before opening it. Record this measurement. Using a marker put a line at that mark.
If your supplier provides a non-translucent drum then insert a pole into the drum, pull it out and mark the top of the wet part of the pole with a marker. Then measure to that mark from the bottom. Record this measurement. Always use chemical resistant gloves when performing this.
  2. INCHES USED – If you have a translucent drum then after one month from marking your factory drum fill line make another mark at where the product is now. Then measure in inches from line to line.
If you have a non-translucent drum then insert a pole into the drum, pull it out and mark the top of the wet part of the pole with a marker. Then measure in inches from that mark to the factory drum fill line that you marked one month earlier. Always use chemical resistant gloves when performing this.
  3. DRUM SIZE IN GALLONS – This is usually 5, 15, 30 or 55 gallons.
  4. COST PER DRUM – What you paid your supplier for the drum.
  5. CARS WASHED - Amount of cars washed in one month after marking the factory fill line.
  6. REPEAT PROCESS - We recommend that you repeat this process on a monthly basis to keep track of your cost per car.
